President Maithreepala Sirisena says that no former Army Commander or any war hero will be exposed to any risk internationally.

The President said this at the 66th SLFP anniversary convention help at the Campbell Park today (03).

The significance of this year’s party anniversary was that it has fallen on the birthday of the President.

A large gathering was present at the event, which saw the participation of the Maha Sangha, religious leaders, former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, former Premier, D. M. Jayarathe and many other senior members of the party.

MP Ven. Athuruliye Rathana Thera as well as Minister Gamini Jayawickrama Perera who represented the UNP and Ministers Patali Champika Ranawaka, Mano Ganeshan, Rauff Hakeem were present.

The welcome address was delivered by SLFP General Secretary Minister Duminda Dissanayake. During the event, 5 proposals were presented by seniors of the party.

Economic proposals were presented by SLFP treasurer, Minister S. B. Dissanayake while international proposals were presented by the Vice Chairman of the SLFP, Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama.

National Organizer of the party, Minister Susil Premajayantha proposed food production and environmental proposals while Minister W. D. J. Seneviratne presented proposals on the labour community.

Chairman of the Youth Front, Shantha Bandara presented proposals with regard to the youth front.

Following this, President Maithreepala Sirisena addressed the gathering. President also noted that he agrees that the cost of living has risen.

President Maithreepala Sirisena expressing his views regarding the allegations leveled at former Army Commander, General Jagath Jayasuriya, assured that he is not prepared to work according to the agendas of Non-Governmental Organizations which have connections with the LTTE.
