The met department states that showers in the South Western part of the island are expected to continue today and to be reduced from tomorrow.

Showers or thunderstorms will occur periodically in the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces, as well as elsewhere, particularly after 2.00 p.m.

Duty meteorologist Srimal Herath stated that fairly heavy rainfall, approximately 100mm, is expected particularly in the Ratnapura, Kegalle, Kalutara, Galle and Matara districts.

Landslide warnings have been issued to Galle, Kalutara and Nuwara Eliya Districts.
