The Disaster Management Center says the water level in the Kalu Ganga is approaching its spill level.

The people living on the river bank are advised to be vigilant as floods are expected.

Landslide warning:

Meanwhile, the National Building Research Organization has issued landslide warnings to 5 districts.

Accordingly, the NBRO urged the people in Ratnapura, Kegalle, Galle, Nuwara Eliya and Kalutara to be vigilant.

The NBRO added that since the rainfall within the past 24 hours has exceeded 100mm, if the rains continue, landslides, slope failures, rock falls, cut failures and ground subsidence could occur in those districts.

The people are urged to be ready to evacuate to a safe location if the need arises.
