The Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate and Inquire into Serious Acts of Fraud, Corruption and Abuse of Power has been given two more months to finalize its reports that are yet to be submitted.

The term of the Commission ended on 3rd of September.

Earlier, the Secretary of the Commission H.W. Gunadasa told our news team that they have made a request to extend the tenure of the Commission by 6 more months.

The President has already extended the term of the Commission on two previous occasions.

The Commission, which was appointed on March 3, 2015 received 1,599 complaints and it selected 400 cases to be probed.

It has investigated 17 massive fraud and corruption cases and their reports have already been handed over to the President.

Secretary of the Commission, H. W. Gunadasa said reports of another 17 cases will be handed over in the near future.
