The Meteorological Department predicts that the prevailing showery condition over the island, particularly in the South Western part of the country will continue.

It said that showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Western provinces.

Heavy rainfalls about 150mm are expected at some places, particularly in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.

It is reported that certain areas of Ayagama, Elapatha, Paldola, Batugedara, Eheliyagoda and Kuruwita are still submerged.

At the same time, it is reported that a gas is emanating from a waterlogged cement block factory that was submerged yesterday.

This situation has been informed to the Geology and Mining Bureau.

In addition, 7126 members of 1702 families in Wattala, Mahara, Attanagalle, Biyagama, Dompe and Kelaniya areas have been affected due to the overflowing of Attanagalle Oya.
