Department of Meteorology says the prevailing showery condition over the island, particularly in the South Western part is expected to continue.

Very heavy showers of 100mm-150mm can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts, it said.

Fairly heavy falls about 75-100 mm are expected in the Uva province and in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.

Department of Meteorology also urged the general public take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
