The Chairman of the National Council on Road Safety, Doctor Sisira Kodagoda says that the gazette notification on the offences that carry a fine of 25,000 rupees will be issued next week.

He also stated that the SLS certificate will also be mandatory for all motor bike helmets.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transport has issued a gazette yesterday (08) making it mandatory for all three-wheelers to have a meter and to also issue a receipt upon the completion of every journey.

However, Chairman of the Three-wheelers Union of the All Island Self Employees’ Federation, Sunil Jayawardhana said they were not in favour of the regulations.
