Hambantota Police Headquarters said that two brothers were arrested in Hambantota last Saturday (09) who had thrown stones at long-distance buses.

They were targeting Colombo - Kataragama SLTB buses.

On Saturday at around 2am, two persons on a motorcycle had blocked the path of a SLTB bus plying from Lunugamwehera to Colombo, and attacked it with stones.

They had also assaulted the conductor of the bus. Then two police officers of the Hambantota Police had noticed this while returning to their station, and had arrested the two attackers.

The suspects, residents of Bandagiriya, are brothers. One of them is employed as a conductor of a Colombo - Kataragama, private bus.

The duo had come to attack the Colombo bound SLTB bus from Kataragama and they had mistakenly attacked the Lunugamwehera bus. Police said that the suspects have used this strategy to create fear among SLTB bus drivers in an attempt to revise their running schedules.
