The Presidential Commission of Inquiry, investigating the controversial bond issuance has served summons on Perpetual Treasuries owner, Arjun Aloysius to before the Commission on Wednesday.

Aloysius reported to the Commission to record a statement for the fifth consecutive day this morning (11) He arrived at the Commission at 9.45 am accompanied by his new lawyer, President's Counsel, Gamini Marapana.

President Counsel Gamini Marapana has been hired by Arjun Aloysius after his former lawyer President's Counsel Nihal Fernando withdrew from the case.

Earlier in the day, the Commission informed Aloysius not to leave the premises after he completed his statement to the CID Unit of the Commission.

Meanwhile, President Counsel Gamini Marapana informed the Bond Commission that he will lead a team of 10 lawyers on behalf of Arjun Aloysius.

Later, President Counsel Marapana told the Commission that his client Aloysius is not willing to testify before the Commission under the immunity entitled to a witness.

The President Counsel argued that the information communicated between his client and his lawyers have become public after his client’s personal mobile and digital equipment were handed over.

Responding to President Counsel Marapana, Senior Additional Solicitor General Dappula Livera said this Commission has been appointed by the President for its national interest.

He said people of this country are eagerly waiting to know who are responsible for this massive Bond scam.

President Counsel Dappula Livera also said that Arjun Aloysius only knows the Central Bank Officials who provided him with vital and internal information of the Central Bank, state banks and other sources.

Therefore Arjun Aloysius should divulge the other key perpetrators behind this massive scam to the country.

President Counsel Dappula de Livera also said that the entire country is eagerly waiting until former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran and Arjun Aloysius are summoned before the Commission.

He also said that several other powerful characters are to be called before the Commission in the near future.
