The Government Medical Officers' Association says they will stage one day token strikes from tomorrow against the stance of the Presidential Committee, which was appointed to look into the SAITM issue.

The GMOA said district-wise token strikes will be held until this Friday.

It said tomorrow the token strike will be staged in Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mannar, Mullaitivu, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Polonnaruwa, Hambantota and Nuwara Eliya districts.

Meanwhile, the Medical Council Committee appointed to recommend minimum standards to enroll students to medical colleges, met this afternoon.

The Committee met to discuss the 18 amended criteria submitted by the University Grant Commission in this regard. However, Legal Draft Department has informed the University Grants Commission how such criteria should be amended.
