The public interest petition, which was filed in the Supreme Court seeking an interim order, against animal cruelty, will be considered on the 13th of November.

The petition seeks an intervention directing the Inspector General of Police and relevant authorities to take immediate measures to prevent killing, murder, maiming, abusing or any other cruelty against dogs and cats.

The petition was taken up before a 3-member bench in the Supreme Court today (12). 25 Buddhist monks and an animal rights organization had filed this petition.

30 persons including the IGP have been cited as respondents.
