Minister Mano Ganeshan says the Office of Missing Persons be established and functioned under the Ministry of National Integration and Reconciliation, which is coming under the purview of President, Maithripala Sirisena.

This office will be operationalized from Friday.

Addressing the 36th sessions of the UN Human Rights Council, its Commissioner Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein urged Sri Lanka to establish the Office of Missing Persons without delay.

Meanwhile, President Maithripala Sirisena will leave the country on Sunday to participate in the 72nd UN General Assembly.

The session will be inaugurated on 19th and the President will address it on the same day.
