Rain predicted in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces

The Met Department states that several spells of showers will occur in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.

Showers or thundershowers will occur in Central and Uva provinces and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2pm, the Department said.

Duty Meteorologist,  Buddhika Bandurathne stated that fairly heavy falls above 50mm are expected at some places, particularly in the Sabaragamuwa and Western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.

Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Centre stated that with incessant showers all the sluice gates of the Kukuleganga reservoir are open.

Deputy Director of the DMC Pradeep Kodippili requested the people living in low lying areas to be vigilant.
