The Joint Trade Union Federation of the Ceylon Electricity Board filed a complaint with the Financial Crimes Investigation Division in connection with an ongoing alleged massive financial fraud in the Board.

General Secretary of the Federation, Ranjan Jayalal told our news team that a fraud amounting to Rs. 40 million per month has been taking place in the Board.

At the same time, CEB workers have launched a strike demanding solutions to salary anomalies.

However, the leave of all the workers have been cancelled by the Board until 20th of September to maintain essential services.

Meanwhile, power breakdowns were reported from several areas due to the prevailing inclement weather.

The Power and Renewable Energy Ministry said that it will take some time to restore power breakdowns due to the ongoing strike.
