Today is the 4th day of the strike launched by the trade unions of the Ceylon Electricity Board.

The Secretary of the Lanka Viduli Sewaka Sangamaya, Ranjan Jayalal said that no solutions have been still given for their demands.

The strikers are urging the authorities to address their salary anomalies.

They are also asking the authorities to investigate an alleged fraud relating to the payment of salaries to the top administrative officers of the CEB.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy yesterday (15) requested its former field technicians and drivers who retired after September 1, 2014 to immediately report for duty.

However, Union Secretary Ranjan Jayalal said they would continue their strike.

Meanwhile, Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that the strike was unsuccessful and condemned the union for withdrawing the CEB technicians attached to the National Hospital, Colombo.
