Australia Medical Council, which is the regulator of Australia's medical education, has not added SAITM to its list of Sri Lankan medical faculties that are recognized by them.

The AMC list contains,

Faculty of Health-Care Sciences, Eastern University, Sri Lanka

Rajarata University of Sri Lanka Faculty of Medicine and Allied Sciences

University of Colombo Faculty of Medicine

University of Jaffna Faculty of Medicine

University of Kelaniya Faculty of Medicine

University of Peradeniya Faculty of Medicine

University of Ruhuna Faculty of Medicine

University of Sri Jayewardenepura Faculty of Medical Sciences

It means the SAITM pass outs will not be able to apply for an AMC assessment.

Meanwhile, the General Medical Council, the regulator of the UK, has added SAITM to their list of qualifications that are not recognized by them.

Meanwhile, the Inter University Students' Federation today (16) said that the decision to stage an island-wide strike on Tuesday (21) involving schools, universities and hospitals will not be changed.

They said the government's decision to suspend new enrolment of medical students to SAITM, is not a sustainable solution to solve this issue.
