Minister requests CEB workers to return to work

Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya says that he has requested trade unions engaging in the strike action to refrain from inconveniencing the consumers.

He said the consumers should not allow to be suffered due to internal issues within the Electricity Board.

The CEB workers began their strike action on Wednesday (13). 

Expressing views to the media, following a function held in Ruwanwella, he requested employees to report to work in order to preserve the reputation of the Electricity Board.

It is reported there were power outages in several areas of the country during the day.

The Ministry said the employees who do not support the ongoing strike were able to rectify them.

Meanwhile, the Army Media Spokesperson, Major General Roshan Senevirathna said that if a request is made, they are prepared to intervene to ensure continuous power supply.
