The strike launched by trade unions of the Ceylon Electricity Board citing several demands is continuing for a 5th day today.

They launched the strike on 13th urging the authorities to rectify their salary anomalies and charging that there’s a fraud relating to payment of salaries to the top administrative officers of the CEB.

The discussions aimed at suspending the strike have so far failed.

Meanwhile, power outages were reported from few areas over the last few days and Matugama experienced such an outage yesterday (16).

The Ministry said some of those cases were sabotages and the CEB employees who do not support the strike were able to rectify the issues.
