President Maithripala Sirisena has left the Island to attend the 72nd session of United Nation's General Assembly, which is being underway in New York.

The Presidential delegation is comprised of 17 persons and they had left the country at around 10.35am today (17).

The President will address the Assembly on Tuesday.

This is the 3rd time that President Maithripala Sirisena is addressing the UN General Assembly.

The 72nd Regular Session of the UN General Assembly began at the UN Headquarters on 12th of September.

The General Debate will open on Tuesday (19), under the theme, ‘Focusing on People: Striving for Peace and a Decent Life for All on a Sustainable Planet’.
