CEB strike continues, 2 decisive meetings this afternoon

Two discussions are scheduled to be held today (18) in an attempt to solve the ongoing strike launched by the CEB workers.

One of the discussions, will be held with the participation of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. The Deputy Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ajith P. Perera, Ministry Secretary and CEB officials will attend it.

In addition, Labour Minister, W.D.J. Seneviratne will have another discussion with the representative of the unions at 2.30pm.

The CEB strike was launched on 13th of this month, demanding to rectify their salary anomalies as well as to investigate an alleged fraud relating to salaries of top officials of the CEB.

Meanwhile, power cuts were reported in different parts of the island, since the beginning of the strike.

The Secretary of the Lanka Viduli Sevaka Sangamaya, Ranjan Jayalal said that they will continue the ongoing strike until their demands are met.

In addition, Electrical, Civil and Mechanical Superintendents and internally promoted Electrical Engineers are scheduled to join the strike from tonight.
