MP Weerakumara surrenders to Court

MP Weerakumara Dissanayake who was issued notices by courts this morning (18) for not appearing before the court, had surrendered through a lawyer this afternoon.

Thereafter, the Additional Magistrate of Colombo, Chamini Wijebandara ordered to recall the notice.

Weerakumara, who is also the Deputy Leader of the National Freedom Front, was issued notice in a case relating to staging a protest outside the UN Office in Colombo.

He was among a group of persons who staged the protest there on 6th of February 2016, obstructing the Bauddhaloka Mawatha and the Havelock Road.
