The Supreme Court has determined that the proposed 20th amendment to the Constitution is not consistent with the Constitution.

The Speaker, Karu Jayasuriya announced this in Parliament, a short while ago.

The Supreme Court has further said that the 20th amendment should be passed by a 2/3rd majority in Parliament and by a referendum.
