The Presidential Commission of Inquiry investigating the controversial Central Bank bond scam, decided today (20) to postpone the cross-examining of former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran for two days.

This decision was taken at the request of state counsels. Accordingly, state counsels will cross examine Arjuna Mahendran on Friday.

The Commission will not meet in the following week. The former Central Bank Governor was testified for a second day today.

He said that the Monetary Board has the full freedom to take independent decisions and, its duty is to give the Governor, professional advice.

Lawyers of Arjun Aloysius and Perpetual Treasuries stated that they have no questions to ask from Arjuna Mahendran.

Later, the Additional Solicitor General, Dappula de Livera quoting a motion, which was filed yesterday said that he has a huge list of evidence to study.

Therefore he said that he needs at least two days to prepare himself before cross examining Arjuna Mahendran. He said that Arjuna Mahendran is a key witness therefore a justifiable cross-examination should be conducted to mete out justice.

Meanwhile, the Commission ordered Arjuna Mahendran to answer with regard to the missing of data on his mobile phone within a period of 11 months including certain telephone numbers he used during a certain period of time and, relevant international identification numbers.
