Labour Ministry intervenes, CEB unions end strike

The 8-day long strike carried out by trade unions attached to CEB, ended last night after successful discussions between the unions and the CEB management with the intervention of Labour Minister, W. D. J. Seneviratne.

After an 8-hour long discussion at the Labour Ministry, an agreement was reached between the CEB management and trade unions for a salary increase for all CEB employees except for engineers.

According to the agreement, that the salaries of technical officers will be increased by 13% and other grades will get a 6% hike.

It will be effective from January this year. It was agreed to pay the arrears in 2 instalments.
