Anti-SAITM strike disrupts hospital functions

A strike launched by Government Medical Officers’ Association and several other trade unions against SAITM has affected the functions at hospitals, schools and universities in Sri Lanka today (21).

The OPD and clinical services have been gravely affected, in a number of hospital.

However, our correspondents said that the emergency and essential services have not been affected by the strike.

Meanwhile, Ceylon Teachers' Services Union disclosed that teacher turnout in rural schools declined by 80%, while in urban schools 50 % of teaching staff did not report to work today.
