The strike launched by the Government Medical Officers’ Association in collaboration with several trade unions attached to health, education and other sectors will continue until tomorrow morning.

Our correspondents said that daily functions of hospitals, schools and universities were affected due to the strike.

The OPD and clinical services were the worst affected.

However, our correspondents state that emergency and essential services were not affected due to the strike.

Meanwhile, the GMOA Secretary, Dr. Haritha Aluthge said that his organization will take a critical decision next week if the Government does not take action to abolish the Malabe Private Medical College.

The General Secretary of the Ceylon Teacher Services Union, Mahinda Jayasinghe also said the Government should solve this problem.
