The Government Medical Officers’ Association says that the strike which was launched from 8am yesterday (21) is now over.

The strike was launched demanding that Malabe Private Medical College be abolished.

A number of health, education and other trade unions took part in the strike.

Daily activities at hospitals, schools and universities were severely inconvenienced due to yesterday’s strike.

GMOA executive committee member Dr. Prasaad Colombage said that although the token strike would end today, yet another decisive step would be taken in the future, if the government continues with its stance on SAITM.
