CID to probe robbery at Wasgamuwa armoury

Minister Gamini Jayawickrema Perera says the investigations relating to the breaking into of the armoury at the Wasgamuwa National Park, have been handed over to Criminal Investigation Department.

When contacted by "Hiru News" the Minister said after he was informed about the incident, he made a request from Minister of Law and Order to assign a CID team to probe the robbery.

Police have so far recorded statements from 35 persons.

The officials at the Wildlife Unit at the National Park said 5 weapons including a T-56 firearm had been robbed from the armoury on Thursday night (21).
