Police have found 67 boxes containing 5,700 anti-aircraft ammunitions in an abandoned well in the Myladdi area in Kankesanthurai yesterday (25).

The ammunitions had been recovered when the villagers were cleaning the well. Then they have informed of this to the police.

Myladdi is situated close to the Palaly airstrip, and police said those ammunitions may have brought to the area during the time of conflict, to target inbound and outbound flights.

Police said this area was released to the civilians recently.

Investigations will be continued in the area today as well, police said.
