Accordingly, the Colombo High Court Judge, Vikum Kaluarachchi sentenced her to a 22-month jail term and suspended it for 10 years.

She was also fined Rs. 13,500 and also directed to pay a compensation of Rs. 1 million.

She along with 5 others was accused of misappropriating monies meant for the Colombo High Court as fines and cash sureties, for a period of 3 1/2 years from 1990.

The former Registrar accepted her guilt and she is now 79-years-old. Her lawyer said that certain officials have pressed her to do this.
