Acting Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, Ajith P. Perera says Ceylon Electricity Board has been requested to submit a detailed report pertaining to the power cut that took place in the Parliament Chamber yesterday (26).

Suddenly, electricity at the Parliament went off when the Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government, Faizer Mutapha was presenting the draft amendments to the Municipal Council, Urban Council and Pradeshiya Sabha ordinances.

During the power cut, although the lights went off, the microphones in the chamber functioned.

Deputy Minister Ajith P. Perera said that although the power supply was restored later, it needs to be acknowledged that there is a problem with parliament’s internal electricity system.
