Sri Lanka has imposed tougher visa restrictions on North Koreans entering the country in compliance with the UN Security Council's sanctions against North Korea's nuclear and missile development.

The spokesperson of Foreign Ministry, Mahishini Colonne confirmed it in a Twitter message.

She said they (North Koreans) cannot use Sri Lanka's online Electronic Travel Authorization system to apply for visa now.

According to its implementation report for Resolution 2321, sent to the Security Council on 15th of September, the Sri Lankan government has said it has imposed stringent visa requirements on all North Korean nationals who wish to enter the country.

In addition, the immigration and emigration authorities have been ordered to ensure that North Korean individuals on the sanctions list are not permitted to enter Sri Lanka.
