A study conducted by the National Secretariat for Elders has found that there are 258 persons who are over 100 years old, living in Sri Lanka.

The study has also found Sri Lanka has 56 mothers who have more than 10 children and one mother with over 20 children.

The Director of National Secretariat for Elders, Suwinda Singappuli said that in 2 decades, more than 20% of the country's population will be elders.

He said they have submitted recommendations to face this challenge.

One of the recommendations was to increase the pension age to 65 years.
