Police Media Spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekera says that the vehicle abandoned in Gampaha with 3, T-56 weapons, belongs to a resident of Yakkala.

SP Gunesekera told our news team that the number plate of the vehicle had also been altered. The 3 firearms will be sent to Government Analyst for further investigations, he said.

Two officers attached to the Gampaha Traffic Unit had followed the vehicle last afternoon after they observed the number plate had been twisted and looked suspicious.

Then the occupants had abandoned the car near The Gampaha Hospital and had fled the scene. The police officers found 3 live ammunition upon checking the vehicle.
