Police arrest 3 youths for robbing filling stations in South

Three suspects allegedly connected to the recent petrol station robberies in Kamburugamuwa, Akuressa, Weligama, and Galle have been arrested.

Akuressa police said the suspects, all under 25 years of age, are residents of Ahangama.

A senior police officer told our news team that the suspects were arrested following a tip-off received by police, this morning.

Two petrol stations in Kamburugamuwa and Akuressa were robbed within 10 minutes of each other on 26th of September.

Rs. 85,000 was stolen from another petrol station the following day at Denipitiya in Weligama.

In addition, another filling station in Pinnaduwa, just off the Southern Expressway was also robbed.

Police said in total that suspects had taken away around Rs. 400,000 from those filling stations.
