The Disaster Management Centre says that people should be vigilant of the risk of landslides and earth slips in the South Western parts of the island due to heavy rains being experienced at present.

The MET Department said that the prevailing showery weather condition is expected to continue during next few days particularly in the South-western part of the island and Eastern and Uva provinces.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts and at several places in the North-western and Northern provinces.
