An official from Far Eastern Bank. Taiwan and two investigating officers have arrived in Sri Lanka to investigate the hacking of the bank and withdrawing money.

The Police Spokesperson confirmed this. Sri Lanka has already arrested 2 suspects for their alleged links to this incident.

One of them was arrested on Saturday while the former Chairman of Litro Gas Shalila Moonesinghe was arrested on Monday (09). Yesterday he was produced before the Fort Magistrate and remanded until 25th of this month.

The CID also informed the court that Moonesinghe is a UK citizen and his visa will be expired in December this year.

The Magistrate also informed the CID that further interrogation into this incident could be done within the remand.

Moonesinghe is also the Leader of the New Democratic Front, under which President Maithripala Sirisena contested and won the 2015 Presidential Election.

Police acted after state-owned Bank of Ceylon reported a suspicious transfer into one of its accounts of $ 1.2 million from Taiwan Far Eastern Bank, following the withdrawal of some of the money by one of the suspects.

The first suspect, J. C. Nammuni was also produced before courts and remanded.
