The Criminal Investigation Department investigating the Taiwan Bank hacking incident says that another 10.94 million rupees have been transferred to Sri Lankan bank accounts.

A CID spokesperson said a total of 10.94 million rupees was remitted to Sri Lanka from Taiwan Far Eastern Bank.

The Taiwan bank officials believed around 60 million dollars have siphoned off from the bank by the hackers.

The hackers have infected the bank’s computer system with malware.

From that amount, $ 1.3 million was transferred to Sri Lanka.

The CID sleuths arrested the first suspect, former Chairman of Litro Gas, Shalila Moonesinghe on Monday (09).

Police acted after state-owned Bank of Ceylon reported a suspicious transfer into one of its accounts of $ 1.2 million from Taiwan Far Eastern Bank, following the withdrawal of some of the money by one of the suspects.

CID investigations have also determined Rs. 30million had been credited to the second suspect J. C. Nammuni, who then had credited Rs. 15 million to an Indian Company.

Both the suspects were remanded until 25th of this month.
