It was revealed before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry probing the controversial bond issuance today (13) that Perpetual Treasuries Limited has encashed millions of rupees through its subsidiary companies.

Testifying before the Commission, company Senior Dealer Kaushika Ranaweera said the parent company Perpetual Treasuries from time to time transferred millions of rupees to its subsidiaries but he did not know what happened to such a colossal amount of money.

He said that Arjun Aloysius and his father Jeffrey Aloysius issued cash cheques under the names of those subsidiary companies.

Ranaweera further said that he collected such money from banks in currency notes and handed them over to company CEO Kasun Palisena.

He also said that he left the money on Palisena’s seat when he was not in the office.

Meanwhile, Supreme Court Judge Prasanna Jayawardena stated that the facts presented by one of private television channels this morning were totally false.

He also said that the Commission will consider taking action against that channel in due course.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court today postponed considering the petition filed by Perpetual Treasuries Limited against the Central Bank until 19th of October.

Perpetual Treasuries, in its petition, has requested the Supreme Court to cancel the Central Bank’s decision to suspend its primary dealer license.

The firm’s attorney had wanted more time to change the names of respondents.
