Department of Meteorology says prevailing showery and cloudy conditions are expected to continue further and fairly strong winds can be expected over the island and surrounding sea areas during next few days.

Showers or thundershowers at times are expected in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western and Northern provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.

Showers or thundershowers will occur elsewhere particularly after 2 pm.

Heavy falls about 100-150mm can be expected at some places particularly in Sabaragamuwa province and in Kalutara, Galle and Matara districts.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.

The Department urged the general public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.

Meanwhile, due to continuous rain, two sluice gates of the Kukuleganga Reservoir had been opened.

The Disaster Management Center requests the people in Agalawatte, Baduraliya, Palinda Nuwara and Inginiyagala to be vigilant.
