Low lying areas of Niwala River have flooded.

The Irrigation Department warned that Ratnapura, Palinda Nuwara, Bulathsinhala, Horana, Baddegama and Thwalama also face with threats of flash floods due to incessant rains.

The water levels in Kelani. Kalu, Gin, and Nilwala rivers are also rising.

Meanwhile, the NBRO has issued a red notice to the people who are living in slopes to be evacuated due to threats of landslides.

Meteorology Department says that the prevailing heavy showery condition is expected to reduce by some extent temporary in Southwestern part of the island.

Cloudy conditions are expected to continue further and fairly strong winds can be expected over the island and surrounding sea areas during next few days.

Showers or thundershowers at times are expected in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western and Northern provinces and in Galle and Matara districts and in Central hills.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere.
