The Meteorological Department says that a slight decrease in rainy conditions which has affected several provinces could be expected from tomorrow onwards.

The Department of Irrigation noted that due to heavy rains the water levels of the Gin and Kalu rivers continue to rise.

However, the Department noted that the water level of the Nilwala River is currently declining.

However, an engineer of the Irrigation Department Water Management Unit, A.D.S Gunawardena noted that those residing in low lying areas in and around rivers, need to be vigilant.

The Disaster Management Center noted that the Akuressa - Kamburupitiya, Akuressa- Siyambalagoda road and the Kadduwa- Akuressa road has been inundated due to the rising of the water levels in the Nilwala River.

Several roads in the Kalutara district have been inundated due to the opening of a sluice gate of the Kukuleganga reservoir.

The Bulathsinhala-Paragoda road, Dambala Junction and the Matugama- Kalawana Road, and Midalana area have gone under water.

Police requested drivers to use alternative routes.

The National Building Research Organization extended the landslide warning issued to 6 districts until tomorrow morning.

15 individuals belonging to 5 families in Ratnapura- Eheliyagoda and 12 families in Hatton- Samanalagama have been relocated due to the risk of landslide.
