A 9-year-old boy had died under mysterious circumstances in Lindula, Nuwara Eliya last night (18).

Police said the child, Muthukumar Sajeewan while playing with his friends last night, lighting firecrackers in view of Deepavali Festival, had suddenly fainted and collapsed.

Then the parents have taken the child to the Lindula Base Hospital, where doctors have told the parents that the child is dead.

Despite that, the hospital authorities have transferred him to Nuwara Eliya Hospital.

Police said the real reason for the death is still unknown.
