The Joint Opposition has requested the President to intervene in preventing their Parliamentarians from being arrested.

Three Parliamentarians, Namal Rajapaksa, D. V. Chanaka and Prasanna Ranaweera were arrested and then remanded following the recent Hambantota protest.

Subsequently, MP's Rajapaksa and Chanaka were granted bail.

MP Bandula Gunawardena expressed these views addressing a media briefing in Colombo today (22).
