One-member Committee to probe Kataragama Devalaya issues

The Commissioner General of Buddhist Affairs has appointed a one-member committee in order to investigate the issues which have emerged with regard to the administration of income and expenditure of the Ruhunu Kataragama Maha Devalaya.

Retired High Court Judge Bandula Atapattu will lead the probe.

The Commissioner General of Buddhist Affairs, Nimal Kotawelagedara noted that a detailed report has been requested within 45 days following investigations by the Commission into the dispute arose between the Basnayaka Nilame of the Devalaya and the custodians recently.
