Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake who appeared before Supreme Court this morning (25), was issued the notice to reappear in the Supreme Court on 21st of November.

Meanwhile, appearing before the court, the Deputy Minister said that he did not receive the notice issued to him on 12 of this month.

He said he appeared before the court based on information seen on media.

The petition against Ramanayake was filed by General Secretary of Sinhala Ravaya Magalkande Sudaththa Thera and a retired Air Force personnel, Sunil Perera.

The Deputy Minister is accused of contempt of court over his alleged remarks against judges and lawyers.

The Supreme Court issued notice on Deputy Minister Ramanayake based on an alleged statement where he had accused that the majority of Sri Lankan judges and lawyers are corrupt.

He had made alleged statement on 21st of August.
