Four teenage girls aged between 14 and 15 years had fled their children's home early last morning (25).

Our reporter said that these girls were given shelter at that children's home following a court order.

However, a vigilant woman who had seen these girls idling near the Katutara Bo Tree had handed over them to the Kalutara South Police Station.

It was found when the warden had gone to prepare breakfast, these girls had fled the children's home.

This children's home is coming under the purview of the Kalutara Young Buddhists’ Association and they say an inquiry is already underway into this incident.

It was also revealed that the children's home is forced to send these girls to a school which is far away, as leading schools in the Kalutara town are not willing to admit these girls.

The girls were produced before the court yesterday and then returned to the children’s home.
