Qatar and Sri Lanka to enhance development ties

Qatar and Sri Lanka agreed to appoint a joint committee to boost bilateral ties.
This was agreed upon during the bilateral discussions held between President Maithripala Sirisena and the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in Doha yesterday (26).
The Qatari government also agreed to extend assistance to develop the ports in Sri Lanka and other infrastructure facilities.
The Emir of Qatar had also agreed to invest for a natural gas power plant in Sri Lanka and he had also agreed to extend assistance for development activities in Sri Lanka through Qatar Development Fund.
The two countries also signed seven new agreements following the bilateral talks between the two leaders.
