A Fundamental Rights petition by Central Bank employee S. Padumanadan was taken up at the Supreme Court today (27).

It was heard before Supreme Court Judges Sisira de Abrew and Priyantha Jayawardena and Vijith Malalgoda.

Then the judges decided to postpone the case until 10th of November.

When the proceedings started, Supreme Court Judge, Priyantha Jayawardena informed that he would not support this petition being heard.

Then, Judge, Abrew said that although he too was not willing to go ahead with this case, he will sit on the bench if there are no judges.

However, Judge Malalgoda said he had no issue in hearing this case.

Padumanadan filed this FR petition last Wednesday citing that his fundamental rights were violated when he was testified before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry probing the controversial Central Bank Bond issue.
