The Department said showers or thundershowers will occur over most provinces of the island after 2 pm.

Showers may occur in the Northern and Eastern provinces in the morning too.

Heavy falls above 100 mm can be expected at some places particularly in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-central, North-western and Uva provinces and in the Vavuniya district.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western and
Uva provinces during the morning.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.

The Department of Meteorology also urged the general public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
